Today was the color run event which ended up being the biggest turn out for a color run event world wide with over 24,000 people at the happiest 5km run on earth.
The weather was perfect and the whole day was a raging success. I went with my little brother who absolutely destroyed me in the fitness department and stormed home in the race.
After the run I caught up with him and we continued to join the mosh in front of the stage and throw packets of powder paint for hours.
Even after getting home I am still not able to get all the glitter off me. There is bloody glitter everywhere, I am too tired to try and do anything more about it where has led to their being glitter all through my bed now as well.
You win some you lose some right.
The day was sold as the happiest 5km run on earth, and that’s what it felt like. There is something about being covered in so many different colours that just make you smile. Everyone I saw there had a smile on their and they just truly embraced the experience.
I personally had a great day out but learned a few hard lessons. The first one was forgetting the sunscreen was a huge mistake. I have a snapback mark burnt in my forehead and I am currently looking as red as a tomato from any skin that exposed throughout the day.
Second lesson was glitter is a pain in the ass. That shinny crap is impossible to get rid of. Just when you think you have got rid of it all it shows up in every place you where before you thought you got rid of it.
Third lesson was I am very, very unfit at about the half way mark I was struggling and I wasn’t even running that fast, just goes to show I need to put in the hard yards this summer to raise that base fitness level.
Last lesson is staying hydrated at a sunny event should always be in the back of your mind.
If you avoid all those mistakes then you are set for a fantastic day out.
