A Day Of Opportunity New Beginnings and Hard Work Ahead

October 19, 2015 By Jimmy Dalgleish Leave a Comment

Today has been a strange one compared to many that I have had recently. It was definitely a rollercoaster of sorts.

Work was pretty standard nothing to exciting to report there, I am on a steep learning curve with everything that I am trying to get my head around at the moment. I have a firm grasp on SEO and now would like to increase my knowledge further on PPC.

Today was perfect timing as well. Despite in one of my previous posts that I wouldn’t be purchasing anymore online courses for a while when two relevant courses worth $199 each coupled with 3 relevant PDF books and Ninja Outreach which is $29/month becomes available on AppSumo for $25 for everything previously mentioned I am not going to turn that down based on a comment that I was done buying online courses.

When tremendous value is staring you in the face you take advantage of it regardless of the situation.

Have I increased my work load? Yes. In fact I am starting to document the courses I am enrolled in because I know I am going to forget about one at some point. My problem at the moment is time. The building up of all these courses, the launching of my new website the increased workload.

On top of all this on Sunday I resigned from interviewing new applicants applying at attend a US Summer Camp, a position I have had since 2012 and a position I loved. The interviewing of new applicants and sharing my own experiences at camp was always a nice way to break up the day. The tiresome part was writing the report on the interviewed applicants post interview.

It got to a point where the time taken to do those reports was eating into the time I needed to work on my other projects and currently at the moment I am writing enough articles how it is the last thing I want to be doing is writing a report on top of that.

I may have found a potential client though for the little digital agency I am starting which was the silver lining of the whole situation.

If there is one thing I have found is the big agencies couldn’t give a shit about your campaign. You are just another number in the reoccurring revenue. Unless you are on their back constantly to make changes and optimize your campaign don’t expect it to be done.

In fact it’s how I got into PPC, I was so tired of doing the research on how to get more out of our campaign and after researching more and more I realised so many small wins that could have been applied to our campaign that our agency never even bothered with. Changing the amount spent on a campaign once in 1 month does NOT warrant a $610 management fee.

If you are with an agency currently one thing you need to look at is your adwords account. If you don’t have access to your adwords account through your agency that is a huge red flag and you should change immediately. You need transparency. In the google adwords tools there is a change history. You can literally see every change that was made on that account. If your account isn’t being optimized on a regular basis you need to reassess your options.

That has been my day today, bargain hunting for digital products, tying up loose ends from a job I have finished up with, making new networking opportunities, learning more and more in both SEO and PPC.

I have a lot of work to do in the new few months. I need a physical example of what I can produce from scratch in an SEO sense, not just coming in and managing a website that has already been created and that is my website project I am working on currently. I also need to set up my digital agency website. Not to take on any new clients because I won’t be taking clients until the systems are worked out with my beta tester company.

So there is a lot to work on. Bring it on.
