Today’s blog is extremely relevant for what I am going through right now. So I have just finished a 21 Day success challenge. It was a free challenge which I got a lot of valuable information of and to be honest I was expecting a sales pitch throughout the whole course but I didn’t get the final pitch until the final video which was extremely refreshing and after all the valuable content I had consumed I was more than happy to hear the sales pitch.
Here’s my back ground in buying online courses. I love online courses, I will consume as much content at possible and at the right price I will load up on courses. I often buy courses recommended to me by online marketers and some courses are as cheap as $5!
Not every course you have to pay for, there are so many free resource courses out there and the trade-off is usually just your email address so they can up-sell you at a later time. Which is fair enough I am all for that. People that expect everything for free don’t get far but at the same time people who offer a free courses shouldn't expect people to automatically purchase their upsell either it goes both ways.
Initially you are targeting an audience who like to consume free content and getting them to pay for an upsell of a course may be a difficult challenge. You course would want to be amazing from the get go.
Money back guarantee, sure they harp on the money back guarantee but what asshole is going to take a whole course and decide they didn’t like it at the end of the course? There is a special level of karma reserved for those people. My choice to sign up to a course is always based on past experiences with the person selling the course or purely based on who was recommending the course.
So I am at a point where I have been called by a member of the 21 day success challenge that I took and I got along with the person extremely well we had a fantastic conversation it was crazy I finally felt like I could just talk unreservedly about what I am up to and know that they understood exactly what I was talking about. It was refreshing because I am always looking for where I can meet like-minded people that have similar interests to me and here was one person on the other end of the phone.
My issue with committing to the program was the price and to be honest it wasn’t super expensive it was $300 for 3 months and $97 a month for the remaining 12 months. I had already invested a lot into online courses I had taken an expensive SEO course I just signed up for a Diploma in Business, I signed up for a smaller SEO course, a Youtube marketing course and a sales funnel course so there is proof that I enjoy external learning.
Did I really need to commit another $300 for this online course? Well that’s the question at the moment.
I am a huge comper, I love competitions and this program has a competition where they are giving away 3 of the courses. Most people never enter competitions because they think they have no chance of winning but I take advantage of all the opportunities that are presented to me. So in typical fashion I plan on waiting to see who the winners are before I commit or don’t commit to anything.
I have a soft spot for online courses because I plan to offer my own course very soon! On what, you might be asking? Well that is still under wraps but it will be a fun course for a loyal audience
I think University courses are on the way out, more and more people are opting for online learning and are taking responsible for their own learning and focusing on the courses they want to take rather than signing up for a University degree where half the subjects are complete and utter bullshit to fill a course where only half the information is relevant. It is being exposed for the horrible system it is more and more. Don’t get me wrong the social side is fantastic but Universities have a long way to go to cater for the ever changing trends.
So will I sign up for this 3 month course? Well I will wait to see who wins the free courses and then make my decision from there.
My challenge is to find a cheap course this week that works for you or even a free courses and see what you can get out of it. I would love to hear about your experiences.
