Opportunity Meets Action

Do you ever feel like you meet some people for a reason? Like they just walked into your life at the perfect time?

I’ve felt like that a lot lately, I have met some incredible people recently who share many common interests and have a great passion and creativity.

I want to spend more time around the 5 people that will lift my average and help me to become a more rounded individual.

I always reflect on one of my favourite quotes that I heard during the the TV show ‘Touch’ it states:

There's an ancient Chinese myth about the Red Thread of Fate. It says that the gods have tied a red thread around every one of our ankles and attached it to all of the people whose lives we are destined to touch. This thread may stretch or tangle. But it will never break.

Regardless of what beliefs you have I am of the firm belief that you need to be proactive in making things happen. I wouldn’t have met these people without taking advantage of my opportunities whether I created those opportunities myself or they were presented to me.

Fate to me is where opportunity meets action. Some of my biggest achievements all involved being presented with an opportunity and acting on that chance. Have you ever noticed that the people that progress the fastest are the people that take advantage of the most opportunities, take the most risks and fail the fastest?

I look back at high school and look at the people that were involved in everything from the sports program, the drama program, extra curriculum activities and the people that generally just went above and beyond at any given opportunity. The majority of those people that did take advantage of their opportunities were the ones that held leadership positions and the ones that were winning award after award.

For whatever reason I believe that everyone that comes into our lives has a specific purpose, a lesson to teach us or a bond that will last a lifetime. The purpose may be so subtle that it is never quite comprehended or so large it changes our lives in ways we can’t imagine.

The reason I am writing this blog today other than the fact to express my gratitude for the people who are in my life currently is to ask you to take a chance, grab an opportunity, don’t worry what anyone else thinks. Follow your gut and don’t waiver from your gut instinct.
